WATER COASTER HEIGHT

Tsunami Surge

Hurricane Harbor Chicago

Ramaker provided aquatic engineering services for the installation of the Tsunami Surge at Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor Chicago. WhiteWater, a global leader in attraction design and manufacturing for waterparks, supplied its Master Blaster waterslide for the project. The water coaster opened to the public in May of 2021.

At a towering height of 86 feet, Tsunami Surge is the world’s tallest water coaster. The groundbreaking ride propels park guests through 950 feet of pure waterpark fun. Riders can expect five hairpin turns, three gravity-defying uphill climbs, five thrilling drops, and a top speed of 28 miles per hour. Tsunami Surge also incorporates lime green and turquoise fiberglass and AquaLucent effects, which add visual marvels to the already sensational park feature.

Surprising riders while setting a world record requires significant aquatic engineering efforts. More than 30 pipes run to and from Tsunami Surge’s dedicated equipment building, which also houses eight pumps with 600 horsepower—because defying gravity is no small ask. Even though this technology is stored out of sight, it powers the thrilling water coaster’s flow rate of over 10,000 gallons per minute and helps create unforgettable guest experiences.

Having engineered waterslides and other attractions at some of the largest waterparks and aquatic facilities in the country, Ramaker’s employee-owners pride themselves on delivering creative solutions that bring unique waterpark design concepts to life. In the past year, Ramaker also provided engineering services for Tidal Wave, the Midwest’s first tailspin waterslide, at Hurricane Harbor Rockford in Cherry Valley, Illinois. The firm is also providing architectural and engineering services for the installation of a WhiteWater SlideWheel at Mt. Olympus Water & Theme Park in 2022.

Ramaker’s consistent involvement with cutting-edge waterpark engineering projects has positioned the firm as a valuable aquatic design consultant for waterslide installations across the country. Looking to add a thrilling attraction to your waterpark? Start a conversation with Ramaker today.
