Sauk City, WI — Ramaker today announced the Deerfield Public Library Board has selected the firm to lead the expansion and remodel of the library. Ramaker is excited to partner with the Library Board to create a dynamic space for the growing Deerfield community.

“Libraries are more than just book repositories: They are communal interaction spaces, study spaces, event spaces, and so much more,” says Joe Gallagher, AIA, Lead Architect at Ramaker. “Deerfield deserves a space where the traditions and offerings of the existing library can continue to grow with the community.”

The expansion and remodel of the library will increase the current footprint of the building from 4,100 square feet to approximately 7,900 square feet. With this additional space, the library will be able to expand their collections, increase access to natural light within the building, provide private workspaces, and offer more programming options for community members of all ages.

A multidisciplinary project, Ramaker’s architectural design, interior design, civil engineering, structural engineering, MEP engineering, surveying, and environmental teams will all contribute to the improvements at the library. Snyder & Associates will provide landscape design services, and Brothers Interiors will provide FF&E procurement services.

Deerfield Public Library began exploring opportunities for growth in 2019. A community survey found that more than 60% of respondents favored expanding the library. The library approached the Deerfield Village Board in 2021, and a Building Committee interviewed architectural firms in 2022. The expansion and remodel follow the Deerfield Public Library Board’s unanimous decision to hire Ramaker for the project.
